Piercing problems

You should come to the studio AT ONCE if you notice any of these:

  1. Swelling
Some moderate swelling is normal in tongue and lip piercings, up to one week. With other piercings, there can be some mild swelling for the first 2 or 3 days post piercing.
In all other cases you should come to get it checked.

  2. Pus discharge
During the healing period some lymph can excrete from the piercing canal. It's nothing to be worried about, but if you're not sure whether that's lymph or pus,
come to get it checked. Pus infection is usually followed by swelling, redness, and pain.
Under no circumstances should you remove the jewelry because the holes can close around the infection, making it impossible to drain out, and causing problems with healing.

  3. Growths around the piercing
Hypertrophic scarring can look like a small pimple under the skin, and it can (but does not need to) be followed by an infection.

  4. Discoloration of skin around the piercing
If you notice the skin around the piercing turn brown, dark red, or even purple, come to get it checked immediately. This does not include redness which is normal in fresh piercings.

  5. Thinning of the skin around the jewelry
From sleeping on the piercing, playing with the jewelry, etc, the skin holding the jewelry can thin out with time (most common: eyebrow, navel, christina, surface). If you notice that more jewelry is visible outside the canal, come to the studio. If the skin thins out too much and you accidentally pull on the piercing, the skin can break, which will leave a significant scar.

Most people delay the visit to the piercing studio as they do with the dentist, until it becomes unbearable. A small problem can become a big problem if neglected for too long.

If you think there's something wrong with your piercing, come to the studio as soon as you notice it. In some cases we will tell you that what's happening to your piercing is normal in the healing process - but it's better you come when the piercing is fine than not coming when there's a real problem.

Sometimes, for reasons we don't understand, people feel the need to justify the condition of their piercing by camouflaging the facts. For example, a person comes in wth the eyebrow piercing hanging from a tiny piece of skin because they delayed taking the piece out when the migration started, and they say "It's been this way since yesterday".
We won't judge you or lecture you; the only thing that matters is that we get all the necessary information on the piercing and the problem so we can help you as soon (and as better) as possible. So, there's no need to 'prettify' the situation.

If you're unable to come in person, you can contact us via e-mail or Facebook. In that case, send photos of the problematic piercing (photos need to be of good quality, taken up close, and from several angles) with a detailed description of the problem and few basic information (how old is the piercing, when was the last time you replaced the jewelry, does it hurt, etc.).

Check ups are FREE for piercings done in Octopus.
If you got pierced in a 'private arrangement' (at a friend's house, in a park, or by yourself) - check up and consultation are 30 kunas.
The money goes to shelters for abandoned animals.
