Silver

Processed silver jewelry can achieve a high shine, and some parts can have a black coloration, providing a nice contrast, BUT

silver is one of the most common reasons for developing nickel allerigies!

Silver is not recommended for piercings because blood, sweat and other bodily fluids as well as antiseptics and other cleaning products can lead to oxidation - meaning silver jewelry will darken and
start to emit particles that can cause allergic reactions, and the skin around the jewelry can become permanently black or grey.

Argyria – black discoloration of skin which is impossible to remove, caused by inadequate exposure to chemical particles from silver.

Silver cannot be autoclave-sterilised.

In the piercing industry, silver is used for navel extensions and some other parts which aren't in direct contact with the skin. The part of the jewelry going through the hole itself is always made from steel or titanium.
